Weekly Reports 5 - 8
Week 5
We met Sunday night to look into the requirements for the Preliminary Report. After dividing up the work in to 1) background research, 2) patent searches, and 3) possible existing solutions, we scheduled another meeting for Wednesday night to discuss our findings. In our Wednesday meeting, we had a draft of our background complete and a list of sources discussing possible existing solutions. We divided the existing solution articles and patents amongst ourselves and created a universal format for writing about existing solutions in our preliminary report. We made a plan to next Tuesday evening with a completed draft of the preliminary report. We will each spend the rest of this week researching, reading, and writing as necessary to complete our respective tasks for this report.
Week 6
We met as a group on Tuesday night to compile a rough draft of our Preliminary Report. Before the meeting, we had each completed our existing solutions and patent searches, typed up a summarizing paragraph based on a predetermined outline, and created the Gant Chart and Team Responsibilities tables. During the meeting, the information was compiled in a single document and we read through the content to ensure the paper flowed and made logical sense. We then formatted the document accordingly and read through the report a final time. On Wednesday we reread the report and made any additional edits we deemed necessary. On Thursday we plan to print out the report and turn it in as none of us will be in town on Friday. Our next steps are to begin working on the presentation.
Week 7
Last Sunday we met as a group to finalize and compile the presentation and discuss talking points we wanted to include on Wednesday. On Monday, Anna met with the TA and gave the practice presentation to receive feedback on the slides. After a fantastic presentation given on Wednesday, our next steps are to work on the website and start brainstorming more comprehensive solutions to fulfill our needs statement. We will be taking off next Monday and Tuesday for Fall Break, but will then reconvene to discuss our brainstorming and website progress.
Week 8
This was a short week with fall break on Monday and Tuesday off from school. After we returned, we picked up our graded Preliminary Report to review the comments and feedback. Mollie also began constructing the website by including current weekly reports and the preliminary report. Other formatting was done on the web page, but it will continue to be updated throughout the senior design class in order to keep all information current. Anna also reviewed feedback on our individual presentation to see points that could be improved upon for future presentations. Our next steps are to complete the website to the best of our best abilities and begin brainstorming and outline potential solutions.
